ASTM A108 Custom Shape

I have a custom shape that I would like to extrude using Grade 1045 Carbon Steel and would like for it to comply with ASTM A108. I had an extrusion supplier tell me that they are not capable of Cold Drawing, but that they could Hot-Extrude the custom shape per ASTM A576 and that when I machine the part that would count as Cold-Finishing which would turn my material into A108. Is this true?

I thought that for "Special Bar Sections" (which I am assuming a custom shape counts as) the part would have to be Cold Drawn or Cold Rolled.

A108 is a 1018 mild steel equivalent. I don't know how that would all translate with the processes you've described.

There are companies that cold draw steel shapes, Utility Manufacturing in Wilbraham Mass is one that comes to mind, but there are others.

It is better to have enough ideas for some of them to be wrong, than to be always right by having no ideas at all.

No, that is not true. ASTM A108 pertains to bars or sections, not discrete machined parts. You should talk directly to manufacturers of cold drawn special sections like Bekaert-Orrville (formerly Contours Ltd), Precision Kidd, Keystone Profiles, etc. :

Thanks TVP. You are absolutely right. I seriously mis-spoke on that one.

Plymouth Tube is also another one that has been known to do some very difficult shapes/materials.
