need a littel help here, looking at a project which requires addional testing for qualification of a WPS , specs reference A923-06 , material will be UNS S 32205(Alloy 2205) & UNS 31803 , I find a reference to A923 which list three test method a,b,c, any help thanks

Basically, in addition to the WPS qualification, you need to establish the condition of the weld region for service to ensure no detrimental intermetallic phases are present.

Ok, between the three test methods you have chemical etching, Method A, impact testing, Method B and corrosion testing method C.

My preference would be Method C, corrosion testing because corrosion performance is probably the reason for selection of these materials for service.

Make sure you work closely with a reputable material testing lab.

Just a follow-up to my last post, I prefer Method C because if the sensitivity associated with detection of intermetallic phases, and not specific to corrosion resistance. I did not want to mislead you into thinking performing Method C also establishes corrosion resistance, it does not. ASTM Test Method G48 does this.

Either B or C works for me. If the sections are heavy enough then impact testing is good.
Method C looks like a corrosion test, but it is quite different from G-48, all that they share is the test solution.
