Assembly Mates with multiple configurations

When I add a new component to an assembly that has several configurations, How can I have the mates automatically be applied to all of the configurations? Currently after mating a component I go to the mate properties and the suppressed check box is unchecked and by default it says "This Configuration", so I select "All Configurations" from the list thinking it should apply the unsupressed mate to all configurations, but it doesn't. I'm sure tis is just me being thick, any help is appreciated. Also, if I apply several mates, Can I select all of them at once and apply them to configurations? It seems as though I can only apply one at a time!!

The procedure you described doesn't always work I've noticed. One other solution would be to use a design table. Quickly create the table, double click the mates you want to suppress, or unsuppress and enter the correct value for each config. You can delete the DT after you're done if you want to.

In the Configuration Manager RMB on each config' and select Properties. Then, in the Advanced Options, deselect Suppress new featurs and mates.

CBL, I have been playing with that, the only problem then is when I add new mates that happen to conflict with another configuration all the mates in the history tree blow up. I'd rather leave the "Suppress new features and mates" toggled on. But then after mating a new component I go to the mate properties and select "Specify Configurations" from the list thinking it should apply the unsupressed mate to the specified configurations, but it doesn't work. this forces me to go to all of my configurations one at a time and suppress or unsuppress the appropriate mates. There must be a better way, I have noticed that this sometimes works and sometimes doesn't as craig said in his post

Have you tried switching to the default config before adding components that you want to appear in all of the configurations?

I think the inconsistency is when you select "All configuration" to unsuppress....if the current config has them unsupressed already, then it takes no action.

The solution may be to switch to one of the other configs where the mates are supressed, select the mates, and unsuppress with the "All configs" option. Or, int he original config, you could suppress the mate, then unsuppress again with the "All" option.
