Does anyone know why the hierachy of parts in an assembly shown in SolidWorks, SW Explorer & eDrawings is shown differently in each?

It's a small, but nonetheless, irritating problem.

I knew about the SW Explorer isue, but never paid attention to eDrawings. No clue as to why the structures are different.

Have you read faq731-376 to make the best use of Eng-Tips Forums?

More to the point the question should have been, Does anyone know how to change the hierachy of parts shown in SW Explorer & eDrawings to match SolidWorks?

In case anyone is wondering, I sometimes use eDrawings to convey the assembly sequence to customers or manufacturing/assembly shops.

This is somewhat related so I'll sneek it in. Its been bothering me for a while. I've mentioned to SolidWorks, my reseller, posted threads on it, with no real response. I'm hoping my perserverance will pay off. There is a difference in how PDM/Works displays base parts versus how SolidWorks Explorer displays base parts. SolidWorks explorer places the base parts under the parts where they are being used, like you expect. PDM/Works places the base part all by itself. Furthermore if you do reporting on an assembly that uses a part, its base part doesn't show up in the report. This is annoying when trying to understand the correct assembly/manufacturing process. SolidWorks Explorer has got it right, PDM/Works (where we really need it) has it wrong. Try some tests with base parts and parts from that (for example a casting and then its machined part). You'll see that the two display things differently.
