Assembly colors

Anyone have any information on what they did on Wildfire 5 as colors are concerned. It used to be that I could open an assembly, clear a sub-assembly color and it would switch back to whatever colors the sub-assembly has-- as if you opened it on it's own. Now if I try to clear it turns the whole assembly in one gray color, components and all, or whatever color is current in the assembly.

Looked in the useless ptc help to no avail.

Would appreciate if someone could shed some insight on this. It's driving me up a wall

Thanx in advance

I did a poor job phrasing this question so I'll rephrase to simplify.

I have an assembly with several sub-assemblies and individual
components. There is one sub-assembly that shows in one color (components and all). I do not
want this.

When I bring up this sub-assembly on it's own it shows the correct assigned component colors. That's what I want.

Why can't I show this on my top level assembly?

Oh yeah, 'clear appearance' does not work like it did in all the previous Wildfire versions.
