Hello, I'm currently an intern for a power company and would like to know if anyone has or knows a link to a manual or instruction book for the Aspen One-Liner program.

Also why do utilities use sectionalizers when reclosers can do everything that sectionalizers can as well as be able to open and close a line due to a temporary fault.

Thanks

a recloser is a poor mans breaker and a sectionalizer is a poor mans recloser.

Call Aspen for the book. They probably don't want to publish it online and have their competitors reverse engineering their product.

Another reason to use a sectionalizer is that it doesn't have to have its pickup and trip times coordinated with anything else. So if you want to chop your circuit up into lots of small chunks with reclosers and/or sectionalizers you may find that you need to put sectionalizers in between reclosers. You could have a four shot recloser with a two shot sectionalizer and a three shot sectionalizer and only the recloser has to be coordinated with the upstream overcurrent device but yet you more of the circuit intact for permanent faults.
