Hi .... Does anyone know any informative websites providing (free !!) simple/basic learning points for using the ASPEN software package. I am currently reviewing a contractor design package based on ASPEN for three distillation columns on a new process we are implementing at our plant. As I have not used this exact software package before I am on a steep learning curve, and would welcome some help (other than going on a v. expensive training course!!).
Thanks in advance for any help.

I am not sure which ASPEN software you're talking about. If it is ASPEN+ which is the process simulator package from ASPEN then let me ask you do you have the software ? Unless you 've the software I don't understand how manuals will help you. Aspen plus is one of the best and expensive softwares in the market which are not available freely.

If you are opportuned to have started using process simulation software as far back as the late 80s to early 90s, when you have to build your process plant using keywords like, input data, property data, thermodynamic data like writing a program with basic, dbase or fortran, you would be conversant with reviewing the print-out results of other process simulation packages because from my experience they come with similar formats.

In addition, when PRO-II with PROVISION came out with a windows/graphics based simulation package it was easy to use the software without going for training because of having the basic knowledge and knowing what to look for in conjuction with the usage of their manual.

So you need to have gotten knowledge of any of these process simulation softwares to be able to adapt easily to new packages.

It is also important, as expected, that you have basic thermodynamic knowledge.
