Sec VIII D1 - what are the sizing requirements for an application of a steam to water heat exchanger - water side relief valve, - how does ASME state to size this valves capacity?
ALTHO I DONT HAVE A COPY OF THE CODE I WOULD THINK THAT THE SAFETY VALVE WHOULD HAVE A SET PRESSURE NOT EXCEEDING THE MAWP OF THE HEAT EXCHANGER. ALSO, THE RELEIVING CAPACITY SHOULD EQUAL OR BE GREATER THAT THE MAX. DESIGN HEAT TRANSFER TO THE WATER SIDE.
AMSE B31.1 requires in item 122.5 downstream of pressure regulators for relief devices or safety valves. What is the difference between relief valve and safety valve? Is this configuration also applicable for flammable gases or must I follow item 122.8.1 point D.1 and following?
I would like to know what the documentation requirements are for a stainless steel fitting being procured for a non-registered system constructed to B31.1 with a design pressure less than 15 PSI.
As a minimum, I would request a Certificate of Conformance that indicates the applicable ANSI Standard that the fitting was supplied under from the vendor.
