ASME SEC VIII U STAMP REQUIREMENT

Not clear on what Follow Section VIII means?
Need to review the Jurisdictional Requirements (Laws) at the point of Installation.
If insured what are the Insurance Companies requirements. If not ASME Constructed then what may be the Insurance Companies annual premium rates for Pressure Equipment not Constructed/Stamped to ASME vs if ASME Constructed/Stamped.
Always interesting on why there are those who wish to avoid the Authorized Inspectors involvement.

Dear Refer Section VIII-1 U-1 for scope of this Code. If it falls under the boundary and jurisdictional requirement want its coded vessel then must follow requirement of VIII-1
U-1 a Pressure Vessel- Are containers for the containment of pressure either internal or external.
This pressure may be obtain from external source or by application of head by direct or indirect source, or any other combination.
U-1 a Code Does not address all aspects and those aspect which are specifically
addressed should not consider as prohibited
U-1 b This Code is divided in 3 part
Subsection A- Covering general requirement applicable to Section B & C .
Subsection B - Requirement applicable to various method in fabrication.
Subsection C- Covers the specific requirement applicable to several classes of material used in pressure vessel.
Mandatory appendix - Start with Number , and which covers specific subject which is not covered elsewhere in this Division.
Nonmandatory Appendix- Start with Letter, Covers information and suggested good practices.
U-1 C-2 Following Classes are not included in scope of this division-
a) Those within the scope of other section
b)fired process tube heater
c) Pressure container which is integral part of rotating or reciprocating mechanical device,
where primary design considerations and stresses are derived from functional
requirements of the device. Ig- Pump, Compressor etc
d) Structures whose primary function is transport the fluid in system
e) Vessel Containing water and its working under 300 psi & Temperature below 99 ℃
f) Hot water supply storage tank heated with steam and which does not exceed limit as- heat input is below 58.6 kW & Water temperature is below 99℃ and nominal water containing capacity is 450 L
g) a vessel which do not exceeding the design pressure at top of the vessel 1) internal or external pressure 15 psi 2) Differential pressure not exceed 15 psi 3) vessel having inside dia less than 6 inch 4) PV for human occupancy
d Where it applicable
a) Pressure not exceed 3000 Psi and meet code requirements
e 1)Geometry -a)Welding end connection for the first circumferential joint for welded connection
b) First Threaded connection c) face of first flange d) First sealing surface proprietary connection
2) When no pressure part welded directly to either internal or external pressure retaining surface of PV , need to follow scope of this code.
3) Pressure retreating cover for vessel such as manhole, Handhole 4) first sealing surface of property fitting or components such as gauges , instruments
The Scope of the vessel cannot be terminated at a Category D weld for any reason
U-1 g Vessel that generate steam 1)Unfired steam boiler 2)evaporator ,vessel in which steam is generated due to operation 3) Vessel in which steam is generated but not withdraw for use
U-1 h Pressure vessel subject to direct firing but do not cover under Sec I, III, IV
U-1 j Pressure vessel which do not cover as per U-1c, g, h, I and which do not exceed the limit given in U-1J , and do not required full RT and Do not have Quick actuating opening can construct as per VIII-1 and can Stamp as UM vessel .
