Hi all,
Can anyone please guide me from Ansys point of view as to how can an Elastic-Plastic analysis be done in conformity to the procedures given in Section 5.3.3.
The Section talks about Elastic-Plastic analysis done for Protection against local failure.
How to extract the relevant parameters like (σ1, σ2 and σ3) in Ansys?
How to validate the structure for a local failure according to section 5.3.3.2. and how to derive the terms in Ansys mentioned in this section.

PS:
1. I'm referring to the latest 2017 edition
2. The shell thickness of the component I'm analyzing is having an r/t<4, so I've adopted Elastic-Plastic analysis methodology

Step 1- Run elastic-plastic analysis by inputting true stress- true plastic strain curve.
Step 2-Export the required results i.e. σ1, σ2, σ3 and σe for all nodes.
Step 3- Calculate εL using above values for all nodes.
Step 4- Calculate εcf + εpeq and compare it with εL for all nodes.

I hope that you appreciate that you are asking for quite a bit, for free.

There are training courses on this subject. That information is covered in those training courses. The instructor should be sufficiently knowledgeable in ANSYS to provide you with step-by-step instructions on how to accomplish what you're looking for.

In the meantime, you will want to read this paper:

I will look into the paper TGS4.
I would appreciate if you can guide me to some online courses that impart the specific knowledge I'm looking for.
Thanks in advance.

Thank you NRPP9, I will look into this.
