Please tell me the difference between Class 61500 and 61500X?

Is 61500 and 61500x a typo??????????

Or perhaps the numbers refer to a piping specification developed specific to a particular company in which case it is not a industry wide standard.

I think so. Since the Piping Class that I have comes from the Petronas Technical Standard (PTS) and much of the details in PTS are done using Design Engineering Practice (DEP) as reference. So DEP is Shell's and PTS is Petronas'.

I am helping my team to prepare technical bid document and doing the sizing for the flow meter and sourcing out piping for metering project in Turkmenistan.

Anyway, appreciate for any feedback.

Yes - it will be the Shell system as, if I recall correctly, Petronas has a technical agreement with Shell for the use of standards. In which case, the X means that it is a derived piping class, i.e. it is still class 600 carbon steel (6 1) but some minor modifications have been made to it for some reason - gaskets or bolting perhaps. If it has been included in the document package, take a look at DEP 31.38.01.21-Gen Compilation Of A Specification For Piping Systems.
