Dear Techies,

I had a very general doubt about the ASME Piping material nomenclature.

For Ex: SA 335 P11 is the high alloy material in ASME Standard.

In this 335 means .....What 335 originally means?

Can anyone help me on this?

Thanks in advance.

Kind Regards,
R. Ilanseran

Try searching under the ASTM material ASTM A335. The basic definition is a chrome-moly steel. The specific chemistry and properties are specified under the ASTM designation.

The A indicates ferrous material, the number is just an arbitrary sequential number - A335 is presumably the three hundred thirty fifth ASTM standard created for ferrous materials.
