Hi,
If a welder qualifies via a fillet weld using short circuit transfer on a 10mm plate and deposits a 6mm fillet, would the range of approval be as per QW452.5, i.e. all base material thicknesses, fillet sizes or will QW-404.32 restrict the deposited weld metal to 1.1 X deposited thickness? I cannot seem to find a definitive explanation.
Thanks for your help.
Onevan.

QW 404.32 has no bearing on Welder Performance tests. It is applicable to Procedure Qualification.

Use QW-452.5 only as referenced in QW-303.2

Thank you both for your replies. Weldtek, QW-404.32 is classed as an essential variable under QW-355 therefore must have a bearing upon welder performance hence my confusion.

I believe deposited 't' only applies to groove welds.

Onevan,
My oversight. Sorry. I believe DVWE is correct.
