The in this case the flange face has been repair welded by a company which holds a PQR (groove weld) which is valid for material thickness T=25mm.
In practice the component has a material thickness T=45mm. The PQR is normally not valid for this material thickness (QW202.3 states that the base material thickness shall be in accordance with QW-451, so this will be 2*T).
The repair company now states that the flange face repair is a fillet weld, which has no limitation on base material thickness according to QW202.3(A).
In my opinion a weld repair/restore on a flat flange face is not classified as a fillet weld and QW202.3(A) is not applicable in this situation.
what is your opinion in this ?
