What is the minimum tube wall thickness for stainless & non-ferrous material in a ASME Div. 2 Heat Exchanger?

Div. 2 - AD-104 specifies 1/8 inch min. thk. for non-ferrous & stainless Steel materials.

Are there any special provisions in Div. 2 for heat exchanger tubing?

Hi bwicher,
The AD-104 does not apply for the tubes wall thickness. You'll have to calculate the minimum wall thickness as per the code formula(s), using ASME II Part D, Table 2A or 2B for design stress intensity values and obviously select the nearest higher standard wall thickness. Check for additional loadings on tubes if thermal expansion applies and also check for the service, sometimes you have to add corrosion/errosion allowance on top of minimum wall thickness for pressure / vacuum.
Cheers,

I've looked through Div. 2 & have not been able to find where an exception to the minimum thickness requirement is.
