Not sure where to put this question...

We use the ASME books pretty intensive, and they start to wear very quick now.

The ASME 2004 version was provided with a very decent binder, the 2007 version came with a light version. Our old 2004 binders look better then some 2007 binders.

Our problem is to find a good replacement binder for the standard ones, but over here in Europe, it is not that easy to find those American 3- or 5- ring binders. We found some local suppliers, but they only have the same or less quality then the current binders.

If somebody should know a good heavy-duty 3- or 5- ring binder for the ASME books, please share!

Thanks,
Jeroen.

If no one else will reply to your request, please go to your documents department, introduce yourself to them, ask them to replace the binding on your books, they can drill any number of holes on the side of your document, take my word;- then go to your project manager, ask him to subscribe to IHS or other similar provider of electronic library of the world standards. You will never flip pages again, I can assure you.

Better yet, why don't you obtain an on-line internet subscription for access to ASME B&PV Codes and Standards? This works anywhere in the world with an internet connection, you can print out the specific page you need, and it takes up less space.

I know, I know...

But we really like to browse in the paper version.

Sometimes the electronic version is easy to search,
most of the times the paper version is more comfortable to read.

Is it the binder or the pages that are damaged?

the binder is damaged.

The pages are OK.

I think best is to have a 5-ring binder for replacement, because some pages are already wearing a little bit.

Just a thought, have you gone back to ASME and asked them for a new set of binders? Don't know that they will, but a lot of companies will cough up a new set of binders for free since you've bought their <expensive> printed material.

We have bought some spare binders from ASME, but they are all those white plastic ones. Not the heavy ones we would like to have.
