I have a need to machine a custom fitting for a Sect. VIII, div 1 vessel. The fitting will be similar to a socket weld coupling and welded to a vessel shell. I would normally use an SA-105 grade fitting for this but am looking to make the part from a readily available grade of carbon steel bar material. What is an equivalent (acceptable) grade of bar stock to SA-105 for a pressure retaining component?
