I believe location classes from early B31.8 revisions were defined as A, B, C, D. I am looking at calculating a hoop stress tmin for a piece of equipment built in 1970 to the 1967 revision of B31.8. I just wanted to confirm the design factor of each A, B, C and D class. And is it a case that the more recent 'equivalent' classes 1.1, 1.2, 2, 3, and 5 are directly related so
A = 1,1 and 1,2
B = 2
C = 3
D = 4.

Does any body have a copy of B31.8 1967 they could scan and send the files of the design, installation and testing chapter? I contacted ASME and they don't have this oldcopy available.

many thanks
Dean
