Dear all,

This issue has been previously discussed in this forum (thread794-212082) but there is something not clear to me

In B31.1 Appendix A, Note 1 indicates that "THIS MATERIAL IS NOT ACCEPTABLE FOR CONSTRUCTION OF PRESSURE RETAINING PARTS OF BOILER EXTERNAL PIPING — SEE FIGS.100.1.2(A) AND (B)."

For example, A-106 Gr B doesn't include note 1. Does it mean that A-106 GrB can be employed in BEP or SA-106 GrB should be empployed instead as per 123.2.2 A?

Thank you in advance

It means for BEP per B31.1, 123.2.2, ASME material must be used except in cases where the ASTM and ASME specifications are considered identical per ASME B&PV Code, Section II.
