You may want to go back several years in this forum. Browse the thread titles and look at any of interest. It will be tough mining but rewarding. You may find some tips and techniques that are not in any text book.

One of the old industry bibles for motor repair and troubleshooting has been Electric Motor Repair by Robert Rosenburg and August Hand. It is not an engineering book with lots of formulas, but it is one of the most practical books on motor operation and repair you will find. It is available on Amazon in both new and used copies.
