I need to get hold of some reliability table-based sampling plans. Anyone know of a free, or at least, cheap source for these? I see EVERYONE is eager to sell them to you!

Yes, of course....and thank you! I am NOT an expert in this field and was looking for something a littl simpler to deal with. 105 is not known for it's clarity and many say it is downright WRONG in it's approach to selecting appropriate AQLs. Were my knowledge in this realm greater, I might be more able to utilize this standard...but alas, it is not so. Thanks again and I would would love to hear any other suggestions you might have!

As long as you stick to the single sampling plans and practice c=0, the ANSI/ASQ Z1.4-2003 standard (the repacement for the discontinued MIL-STD-105E) is one of the easier sampling systems around and is is only $115 from the ASQ store ($92 for ASQ members).

Hi,

You might try to get a s/hand copy of Quality Control Handbook by Duran - lots of stuff about everything - including reliability engineering. I have a 1974 edition on my desk at all times - never open it - it just impresses customers!!!

Today many of the big suppliers are trying to persue the six sigma line for incraesed reliability.

Depending upon the kind of business you are in you could try any one of the big automotive or aerospace suppliers. They all have elaborate Quality program manuals that touch base with the quality issues including incoming, inprocess and final inspection. Some of them would even go as far as to provide you links to their supporting documents which would lead to further proven references and if you are lucky some of them may include their own sampling plans in tabulated form.
