Are calculations to latest version of the ASME BPVC code required for replacement PVs?

Our company manufactures multipoint thermocouple assemblies that are designed to the current ASME BPVC SEC.VIII, DIV.1. Frequently we get orders for replacement assemblies, with no changes, and I get requests for updated calculations based on the latest release of the BPVC. I thought I read somewhere in VIII, DIV.1, that a design could be accepted based on proven service of the same design with no additional calculations required. I looked through the 2015 version, and could not find any such justification.

Perhaps I am just thinking of wording from other section of the code, such as piping. Are calculations to the latest version required for these instances?

My understanding is that you base your calculations to the original codes to which the pressure vessels were constructed. Now if the original codes were changed over the years and you are asked to base your calculations on newer codes, as long as you can prove equivalency or better I do not believe that it would be an issue. Better yet ask the local jurisdictions.
