I received an e-mail from SolidWorks API support today. He suggested
"By the way, we don't recommend using VB6 any longer. It is no longer supported by Microsoft. VB.net or C# are better options."

My once-formidable VB6 kung-fu is getting old and rusty. I am finding it difficult to be a useful and credible API dude while still using it.

It does still work, though.

I'll likely continue with it for a while. I spoke to a fellow regarding .net, and his remarks suggested that it has not really taken off the way Micro$oft would have liked(Vista anyone?). VB still works, and I don't seem to have the same amount of time that I once did to redo a lot of my stuff.

Much like XP itself, I have a feeling that SW will continue to support their version of it for some time. VB.NET is not a true macro language (as in, it is its own full fledge programming language), and having to use a separate program to make macros isn't a good idea, in my mind.
