I am currently working on the end support of a two pin steel arch, I am looking for any information in print that dicusses the design of the upper and lower shoe grillages (that is the steel grillage from the end of the arch to the pin, and from the pin to the concrete skewback or pedestal). Is there anyone that knows of a good reference to help with the design?

I dare say that this is fundamental, as I have worked on complex structures most of my career. Perhaps if your questions were more specific - analysis vs design, what loads or what to do with the loads etc. Use of stiffners, design of plates etc.

Also you might find the following refereces useful:

1. Structural Steel Designer's Handbook.

2. Design in Structural Steel by Gaylord and Gaylord.

For both I recommend that you look at powells.com this is a used book internet outlet with great availability and tremendous pricing.
