Hello There,
Customers are requesting us make connector housings out of DAP because they are concerned about arc tracking resistance. I wanted to ask if anyone knows of any test data comparing the arc resistance performance of DAP (Diallyl Phthalate) as compared to Fortron (PPS, etc.) Also, are there any new thermoplastics that would be acceptable alternatives to DAP as far as arc tracking performance? Thank you in advance for any information you might provide. Bill B.
P.S.:
From some of my literature, I found the following data:
PPS:
Arc Resistance per ASTM D495 is 34 seconds.
Arc tracking rate per UL746A is 20 inches/min.
Comparative tracking index per UL 746A is 180 volts.
DAP:
Arc resistance ranges from 125 to 190 seconds.
