What is the correct Ct value from Table 12.8-2 ASCE 7-05 for a shear wall building with a flexible diaphragm? The table is valid only for rigid diaphragms according to previous SEAOC Blue Books.
The value of Ct approximates the fundamental period of a building. If Ct=0.02, then the period will be very small (<<0.5 sec), where the actual period can be 1.5 to 2 seconds. I know Ct is meant to be conservative, but how conservative do you need to be?

Thanks Willis, that's a good article for rigid diaphragm buildings.
Anyone have any ideas on flexible diaphragms?
