Applying loads directly to nodes in Abaqus/CAE

Hello,

I am a new Abaqus/CAE user, and I am attempting to apply a uniformly distributed load to an edge in a 2D model meshed with 8-node quad elements. For this analysis, it is very important that I correctly apply consistent nodal loads to the edge, but I am having difficulty figuring out how to manually apply these loads to the nodes directly.

All of the load options that I can find thus far only allow me to apply distributed loads to the entire edge or point loads to the vertices of the part geometry. Until now, I have been applying a "shell edge load" to the edge. I have been unable to find out for myself whether or not the software automatically calculates the consistent nodal loading for this load type, or if I have to manually apply it myself

It would be greatly appreciated if anyone can offer me help on this, or a resource that I can use to find the information for myself.

Thank you!
