Hello everyone
does anyone know how can i apply a notch to a part with the orphan mesh which i imported from another program as an input file?
the part is a polycrystalline material which i imported from Dream.3D

If it’s something like a bending sample with V notch used for fracture tests, you can use a seam feature to disconnect selected nodes and make the crack open during bendning.

actually for the moment I want to deal with very simple cubic notch and it would be used for the tension test. but since my input file is pre-meshed I didn't know how to create a notch on it.

Then I think it would be better to use Edit Mesh tools available for operations on orphan meshes. You can delete individual elements, move nodes and so on.

hello again the edit mesh tools work for my case for deleting of the element but i have a problem with creating a specific geometry as my notch geometry. because since these tools just delete the mesh it is not possible to make a cubic notch in the material.

You can try to turn that orphan mesh into geometry using Geometry Edit —> Face —> From element faces. Then it will be easy to do it.

thanks a lot Geometry Edit blongs to which modulus?

This option is available in the Part module.
