Referring to API 650, Section 5.2.2.1, The tank manufacturer is allowed to set the sequence of welding the floor plates to allow for shrinkage.

What is the best sequence for welding out floor plates?
Should the Shell to Floor be welded out after floor is fully completed? What sections are best left to allow for shrinkage.

I am regarding a 18m 8mm floor with 10mm 1st shell strake.

SJKWS,
What you ask is known as Company Intellectual Property and is normally developed over years of building tanks. I would be surprised if anyone tells you how this is done.

SJKWS, There is such a sequence in the Shell dep's (design engineering practice) You migth try to get a copy of the applicable part of it. Other oil company's will probebly have the same documents. Regards

Try the Boilermaker's Tank Construction Manual

Thanks kwaliteitshenk,
I will try a colleague at BP.
I have different sequences form various people within our organisation. However like DSB123 pointed out many companies have developed different practices.
I was just curious to know which sequence will work best as this is the 1st tank inspection project i have been involved with.
