I am looking to rate gearboxes according to API 613 (Special Purpose Gear Units for Petroleum, Chemical, and Gas Industry Services) and am looking for commercial software that will help me with the dynamics calculations required. XLROTOR from Rotating Machinery Analysis, Inc. and ARMD from Rotor Bearing Technology & Software, Inc. are a couple of comercial programs that do rotordynamic calculations that I am considering.
Has anyone used these programs for the API 613 requirements and can comment on their suitablily and/or ease of use? Can you recommend something more applicable to use? The two packages mentioned above have demo versions which I will be trying but I would like to know other peoples opinions while I am evaluating these products.
