I am having to explore this for the first time, and it is a painful exercise. I have to say it is a catastrophic dog's breakfast of a document.

Discuss.

"If you don't have time to do the job right the first time, when are you going to find time to repair it?"

Ya, I feel your pain. When API 5L merged with the ISO standard they really screwed the pooch. I would grab a large cup of coffee, close your door, and plan a few hours to wade through pages of BS to find what you need.

I probably should be searching for an primitive edition, since the pipe in question is 30+ years old. Fortunately the long seam is not in question.

Absolutely. The new 5L is a mess.

The older 5L standard from 30 years ago is very simple. The standard itself was more a pamphlet than a book. If it will give you what you are after, it would be much easier to understand.

Thanks God!
I thought I am alone having "terrible feelings" about API 5L document. [bigsmile]
