Can anyone confirm the contents of API 5L Table 11 - Tolerances for Wall Thickness. If I am reading it correctly it states that pipe with a wall thickness of >0.157" to <0.984" only has a tolerance of +0.0059 / -0.0049. Is this correct and why would it be such a tight tolerance?

My API 5L 2004 has the "Tolerances for Wall Thickness" under table 9 (not 11 as you said) and gives the tolerance as the percentage of specified wall thickness (based on grade B or lower AND grade X42 or higher) for different sizes. Is there something mixed?

I have the 2000 & 2004 and you are correct. The one I am looking at is the newer 44th edition 10/1/2007, effective date 10/1/2008.

This spec has had one eratta and two addenda issued.

The current table shows +0.150t and -0.125t (+15%/-12.5%) as the wall thickness tolerance for this size range.
