Learned friends,

A water doctor friend of mine tells me that his plant is about to install a PowerPure system from Chardon Labs, and I was hoping one of you fine folk would have some information on this device. The idea is that either makeup or cooling tower water is circulated through this electro cell, wherein calcium is concentrated at the cathode, reacting to form calcium carbonate, and chlorides dissociate at the anode, forming chlorine gas. Sounds way too good to be true, but the vendor claims to actually have to clean the system out every day to remove the built up calcium scale, so I'm not sure anymore. It sort of sounds like a poor man's electrodialysis, but my gut tells me that this is another scam. Before I pass judgement, I put it to you.

Deltacascade, any ideas?

THE PROCESS WILL WORK - THE SAME TECHNOLOGY IS UTILIZED TO PRODUCE CHLORINE FROM SALT FOR POOL WATER SANITATION. WHETHER THE ELECTRODE THEY HAVE HAS A GOOD OPERATIONAL LIFE, WHETHER THE UNIT WILL WORK IN LOW CONDUCTIVITY WATER, DO YOU AHVE TO ADD NaCL, ETC. ARE THE QUESTIONS. THERE ARE MANY MANUFACTURERS OF THE SYSTEM BESIDES CHARDON LABS.
