Any thoughts on generating the p-y curves as Lpile does?

I wanted to generate the p-y curves as Lpile does using exactly the same soil info Lpile use. Lpile's technical manual has some information such as equations and tables, but I do not think that is adequate to generate the exactly the same p-y curve (the data points) as it does.

Does anybody have that experience and can proivde any information on my that.

Thanks...

You can obtain lateral load capacity of piles, piers, etc. without resorting to py curves.

One method of analysis is using Brom's method. Another is Bowles approach and yet another is using beam on elastic foundation equations. The publication by Reese & Van Impe has all the equation needed to formulate single and group lateral load capacity.

If you still want to generate p-y curves try COM624 software available online.

We use py wall - not free but works well!

Though, if you are looking for something to reference for hand calcs, FixedEarth has good suggestions.

I do not know all the old-time methods but here are a few thoughts:

1) AASHTO Highway Bridges
2) United States Steel Sheet Pile Design Manual
3) COM624 should be available from FHWA. There is probably a manual that goes with it.

The gray-haired geotechs can probably provide many more sources.
