wondering if anyone has seen definite reasons to upgrade from 2006 sp3.4 to current 2008 version. all versions have their problems but we seem to be working just fine. did not load 2007. our biggest problems are speed & memory issues as always. thank you!!!

Upgrading should depend on: are new feature you require to get the job done, to keep up with your customers, and to keep up with your competitors. Upgrading +3yr old computers is a cost of doing business.

What do your vendors and customers use?

Be prepared to upgrade your hardware if it is +3 years old as MadMango points out. Hardware upgrades are the cost of doing business. The newer Core 2 Duo Intel's are far, far superior to the older P4 Intel CPU's. You will re-coup your cost quickly with up to date hardware. SW2008 uses more system resources then SW2006.

For us the upgrade to newer versions of SolidWorks is a no brainer. The product has new features that make our work easier. We also want to be seen as using the most up to date tools with our many customers that are using SW2008.

I know what you mean, bsa11, apart from the isolate command and a couple of other things, 2006 has been the most stable release for us by far.

Cheers,
