Anti-seep collar for critical slopes

Has any one used anti seep collars with water main on steep slopes? If so, what spacing did you use, and for what slopes?

I have a site with 1 on 8 (12% or so) slopes, and am considering specifying anti-seep collars. I figured I would have them placed top-to-toe the same way silt fence is placed, but I am interested if anyone has experience with this.

It is a good thing to consider Sean. I normally use clay dams in the trench.

If you are using a concrete 'collar' for the anti seep dams and anchor them to the pipe, it will also help keep the mainline in the same position on the hill. Like using an anchor to hold the pipe up the slope.
