Ansys Vs Nastran

I have to buy an FEA software, but I'm not able to choose between ansys, msc.nastran and NeNastran.

My question is address to people with experience on these sofwares, which one would you reccomand?

The answer depends on several factors.

1. What type of analyses will you perform?
2. Do you have a separate software program for pre and post processing?
3. Will you be joining your models with models from other analysts?
4. Which FE software programs are typically used in your particular industry?

I use both msc/nastran and ne/nastran with Femap as the pre and post processor, to perform analysis on spacecraft and launch vehicles.

the analysis will be on shelving system, made out of sheet metal. They will be static non-linear analysis.

No, we don't have a separate program for pre and post processing, I think Ansys comes with it's own program and as for nastran, we would use femap 8.2

no, we won't be joining analysis with other analysis

I think some others compagnies are using Cosmos/designstar, but since it cannot do non-linear analysis, we can't use it.

Basicaly, what we want to do is to determine the loading capacity of different configuration of shelves.
