I need to try and create a drop test simulation within ANSYS.

I cannot use work bench for this as do not have the caperbilities currently.

Could anyone let me know how this can be done? Or if similar tutorials are available online which I could follow to create a similar one?

Currently the material does not have to be specified, I was thinking potentially some form of metal/plastic.

I am trying to retrieve what deformation occurs when the sample contacts potentially a base plate and absorbs the impacts by decreasing the linear length.

Any help is much appreciated

Thanks in advance

I'm still a novice at ANSYS but it is possible to study contact between two dissimilar materials if they are initially in a no-stress contact state. Could you take that a step further and apply a displacement and or velocity to one of the materials from a non-contacted position and do a timehistory study of the subsequent motion and contact? Just a thought.
