Hello,
I was wondering if someone can give me some advice. I'm interested in modelling the flow of an epoxy resin that's been loaded with a filler material as it fills a mould. I believe the fluid will be non-newtonian and it's properties will change with time as it begins to cure. Is this something that CFX can model?
Many thanks
George

I'm not familiar with CFX, so I really can't answer your question, but since you haven't received any other responses...

Is it something that could be temperature dependent? For instance, is your resin cure endo- or exo-thermic? Can you map the temperature change as a function of time and then perhaps relate your resin properties to a function of temperature rather than time?

If so, I would think CFX could do it. AMPS ( could probably do it. I'm sure there are other softwares out there that would be able to do something similar.

WRAFTS ( can model this kind of problem very easily. It is primarily used for foundry mold filling,
but I have used it for plastic injection molding (with or without fillers) and general purpose CFD.

It is much less expensive than Fluent or CFX.

Thanks gpbacker I'll look into it. The advantage of using CFX is that my company already has several licences and expertise in using it, just not for this application.
Cheers
George
