Hello everyone

I scrolled through multiple topics but couldnot find what i am looking for, probably i am still into very basics.

Basically, my project aim is to analyse thermal stress induced in a multilayer body due to temperature gradients or any mismatch b/w properties of the materials.

I am facing many problems, but to begin with

1. I dont know the working units of ansys?

2. Does ansys allow user defined units?

Remarks will be highly appreciated

i need to find temperature distribution across a three layered planar stack. all layers are ceramics.

The planar stack is heated at base for 7 mins. The heating rate is 100 C / minute so the final temperature reaches 700 C.

I have following material properties.

Density
Thermal conductivity
Specific Heat
Area, length

If i apply only temperature at base layer as load, is this information sufficient for ansys to calculate temperature distribution across the stack?

There is no convection but conduction. and which element shall be used??

plz suggest

thnx
