Annual pipeline pressure cycles

I am trying to get an idea on how many pressure cycles a pipeline will experience during an average year. Both liquid and gas pipelines, both transmission and distribution. Not as much piping in a refinery. Who collects this type of data and is it public knowledge? I could poll a few pipeline operators but I need something on a national scale and documented. I am not as concerned with the depth of a cycle as I am the frequency. Any ideas? Thanks.

for what purpose is your request?
pressure swings in distribution piping systems are likely minimal; meaning operating pressure remains relatively constant as there are pressure regulators & relief valve(s) upstream to maintain system pressure.
as far as transmission pipeline systems, yes, there are pressure cycles. pipeline operators do maintain historical opera data, but whether or not it is available for public use, i do not know. i'd start inquiring with DOT, perhaps FERC, as this is the regulatory agency for pipeline transmission companies.

good luck!
