Hi ya,
I am currently working on Anisotropic unsymmetric laminate beams. Could anyone help with where i could get good materials on calculating the Stiffness Matrix for such beam?. I am looking at performing FEA using Ansys or IDEAS with a beam made out of composite but Anisotropic and unsymmetric.

Cheers.

Look at I think they have an online calculator that works pretty well using laminate theory, but I'm not 100% how you plan to model this. Will you model the beam as plate elements so you can input the anisotropy? I'm not that familiar with Ansys or IDEAS, so perhaps there is another way using beam elements.

The text by Whitney can be helpful. Analysis of Laminated Anisotropic Plates shows how to develop the extensional and flexural stiffness matrices.
