The new animator is structured much more like Hollywood 3D animation and audio/visual programs now. Lots of things can happen at once and be graphically displayed in overlapping timelines.
Check out help files for the basics and try an animation as a trial run. I've not yet used it myself, but caught on during our VAR's presentation last fall. Much better logic, in my opinion.

Reality is no respecter of good intentions.
I have had extensive use of this add-in with my previous job. If you need help with specific things in animator please let me know and I will try to help.
