Anhydrous Ammonia Branch Line

I am connecting a new 16" anhydrous amonia line to an existing 16" anhydrous ammonia line. Is there a preference for the branch orientation? I've heard that off the side or bottom of the pipe is best. Does this have to do with the vapor/liquid phase and draining liquids?

Suction line I presume. The orientation is usually off the top or 45 deg. but really depends on where in the system the connection is going.

no, not a suction line... the existing 16" line is about 12 meters in the air and the new 16" will go down to a level of about 5 meters. In other words, I will install a full 16" tee and block valve (see attached diagram) and travel up, then drop from 12 meters to about 5 meters to run on another set of pipe supports....
