Hi,

I'm having problems using shell elements on a composite beam, being deformed by analytically rigid rollers. I have used two steps in order to establish contact first prior to loading. However, even by using a very small displacement to establish the contact, the roller penetrates the shell elements. I have used the same contact conditions with brick elements and this worked fine. Any suggestions as to what to check would be really appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Try using a node contact set on the shells rather than the element surfaces.

thanks for the suggestion, but i got the same response as before!
