Hi:

I'm trying to monitor an analog signal through the serial port but I cannot figure out how to do it. Any suggestions or links would be appreciated. I'm using LabView 5.1.

Thanks

Not possible without intermediate electronics. Serial ports have 2 discrete logic levels (digital). You would need electronics to sample the analog signal at a given rate, convert it to digital word, and stream/interface it to the serial port. You may want to google to see if such devices already exist (it may). But without any specification posted, we do not know your needs (ie voltage range, number of bits of reolution, max sampling rate, S/N ratio required, etc). Much more direct route would be an NI or LV compatible DAQ card (PCI bus or USB).

Wheels within wheels / In a spiral array
A pattern so grand / And complex
Time after time / We lose sight of the way
Our causes can't see / Their effects.

Thanks

The Voltage range would be around 0 to 5V, bits of resolution - 16 bits, max sampling rate 500/s and I'm not sure what S/N ratio is. The DAQ would be alot easier.

thanks analogkid2digitalman ...
we moved on to using a DAQ ... thanks for your help
