Is or are there anybody or anyone extensively purchasing
and installing the amorphous core transformers?

We bought a 2500 KVA G.E. amorphous core unit seven (7)
years ago, and the core losses were so small, they were
almost negligable, but the price of the amorphous unit
was almost double.

I was hoping the price (amorphous metal) would go down, and other manufacturers would move towards this core material.

Supposedly, G.E. holds a patent for bracing the rather
flimsy material, but I have yet to see any of the other
major players use this stuff.

In India there are several manufacturers for amorphous cored trfs and some Indian utilities are specifiing the same. Some one recently told that nearly half of amorphous core material made in the world is used in India

Dear SphincterBoy,
