A hypothetical situation that I'm sure happens all the time:

You have an 50/50 mixture of MDEA/Water solvent adsorbing CO2 from natural gas at 1000 psig in an amine contactor. The amine contactor has two-pass valve trays with 3" weir heights.

You are operating normally but then suddenly lose amine circulation due to some mechanical problems with your pumps. If gas continues to flow through the contactor, how long would generally take for the trays to completely dry out to the point that it would no longer be preferentially wetted to the amine solution?
