I'm trying to do a simulation of an FDM printing process. My problem that I don't think I have the right approach towards the process, BC wise I think something is missing.
Quicks recap of my simulation. I'm trying to do a simulation of polycarbonate being printed on abs sheet which has an aluminum bed underneath. What should be the BC conditions used here?
I have attached the cae file and the event series files.

There are some examples of such simulations in Abaqus documentation. But yes, you are missing a boundary condition fixing the bottom face of the build plate.

Thank you for answering. If you mean the structural simulation, I didn't complete it because the heat transfer simulation is not realistic. I except when I print the polycarbonate I should see a temperature difference on the abs sheet but in my simulation I can't see any effect.

Tie constraints are suppressed in your HT model so there's no heat transfer between the parts.

The simulation never finishes when I do the constraints, also I though if the plates touch each other that would be enough.

Separate parts have to be connected with tie constraints (or thermal contact but tie constraints are usually sufficient) to allow for heat transfer between them. Convergence difficulties in your model require further testing. Maybe try with more elements in the thickness direction.

Thank you. it has worked. The problem was the meshing.
