Aluminium extrusion 1

Hi,

I am working on aluminium extrusion project. Most of my models with flat-nosed dies do not work, so I tried (unsuccessfully) to mesh aluminium billet like in Abaqus Example Problems Manual ex. 1.3.14 (link below). I would be pleased if someone could provide step-by-step tutorial on meshing the billet to obtain results like in figure 1.3.14-3.

P.S. Input files do not work for some reason.

[FEA way]

These input files are from very old version of Abaqus and may not work properly in newer releases of Abaqus. Look for the same chapter in more recent documentation. Also, make sure that you import the input files properly (as models, not as parts).

Thank you for your answer! I have .inp files saved from v6.14 manual, always imported as models, never worked (maybe because I had other models active?) - but this time it did!
